1. The first artwork that made an impact on me was Eric and Heather Chanshatzs' painting. It almost looked like a collage of some sort, but it was a painting on a silk canvas. It was very colorful which caught my eye right away.

The second artwork that made an impression on me was Ellen Gallagher's "Bubbel". It had amazed me to see such fine thin lines created on linen, using oil and ink. I would have guessed the oil and ink would have spread out on the linen. She has done an amazing job controlling that.

2.I felt a connection with Jennifer Steinkamp's Dervish 1. I have seen her work in our textbook, so felt I had knowledge about it.

A second work that I felt connected with was Lisa Stefanelli's "Bellwood". I felt connected simply because of the dark purple color of the oil. Purple is my favorite color so I was very attracted to the piece of work. I also really liked the different strokes throughout the artwork. It was very beautifully made.

3.I would really like to know more about all of Peregrine Honig's pieces. They are cartoon like watercolor  paints on a paper. The one that stood out most to me was thru "Sex Trade for Vera Wang". I would describe the painting as cute and fashionable, but the title of the work sounds as if it is FAR from cute. I would love to know more about the meaning behind it.

I would also love to learn more about Tristano Di Robilant's glass work of "Tree of Knowledge". I wonder if his creation of bubbles and glass symbolizes something with knowledge. Why did he decide to use glass to create a "tree"?

  1. All of the pieces you chose were very unique and showed a wide variety. I especially like the last piece made of glass the Tree of Knowledge. I also would like to learn more about that artist and his work - glass seems like an incredibly difficult medium to master!

  2. I really like the pieces you chose! Particularly, Jennifer Steinkamp's Dervish 1 and Tristano Di Robilant's Tree of Knowledge. Particularly the glass work really caught my eye because, particularly since we learned about glass works this week, we know how much work goes into glass works and that piece looks so intricate! I can't image the work that went into creating the bubbles within the glass cone. It's a beautiful piece! It would have caught my eye as well.
